The staff was very friendly and helpful upon arrival. Parking was easy to find, which was a pleasant surprise considering the hotel is located downtown. The location itself is very convenient. The rooms were acceptable. They were not dirty, but they were not exceptionally clean either, and some areas could benefit from better maintenance. The most disappointing aspect of our two-night stay was the smell in the room. We stayed in Room 301, located on the back side of the hotel facing a street with several restaurants. A very strong smell of spices was constantly present in the room. While I have certainly experienced worse accommodations, I have also stayed in much better ones. I would strongly suggest improving the ventilation system to help prevent odors from entering the guest rooms. Breakfast was good! Overall, the stay was decent thanks to the friendly staff and convenient location, but the odor issue significantly affected our experience.

I would not recommend this hotel. The only positive thing I can say is the rooms are large and the employees did their best. When you pay over $400 a night and your bed's mattress sits directly on the floor, that sums up the whole experience. I won't go into all details but trust me, it is 1 star.

Very poor sound insulation, with noisy bar outside until 4am on one side of the room, 2am on the other. Promised a call from the manager with a partial refund, never called us. FYI, if booking a 2 bed suite all are located on the same corner near the bars so we couldn't be moved. Cancelled an upcoming booking at the same location.

Rooms are a generous size with sitting area and kitchen. The basics: shower was good (water pressure, clean), towels were fluffy, bed was pretty comfortable. Free street parking in the weekends (parkade was full). We arrived late (like, so late it was early the next day) and had to ring a bell to get in. There was a bit of a wait until someone responded. In the end, the mobile key provided access before the front desk who wanted to know our name before letting us in. Not ideal when you are just really tired and I had messaged that we were arriving at that time. The hotel was kind of loud in the morning (doors, people) but hard to hold it against the hotel when we were trying to catch up on sleep after 8am. My rating reflects expectations for a 3 star hotel.

Where do I start. A hotel that seen better days. Many times no one on front desk and street people can get into unsecured elevator. Bar across the street blaring music so loud we had to call office to ask to be moved at 20:45 at night. Articles falling off the wall with old paint color showing Gym is very dated and dingy. Probably the worst stay in a hotel in many years. I asked hotel at at 22:45 to move us I was told to call in am. That sums it up. Boy oh boy.

I stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriott in Halifax and overall had a great experience. Suraj at the front desk was incredibly friendly, professional, and made sure we were comfortable in Room 502. His service was exceptional. Except for some noise, everything about the stay was really good. Thank you, Suraj!

Ants crawling across the hand towels were the first thing to greet me upon entering my room, a fitting preview of the hotel’s standards. When I raised the issue at the front desk, the response was almost comical in its apathy: “Housekeeping will come with ant spray tomorrow.” Tomorrow. As if spending a night in an insect-infested room were a perfectly reasonable expectation. Housekeeping also never came. The shower drain was completely clogged, turning what should have been a basic amenity into a small swamp. I was forced to stand in ankle-deep, stagnant water, a detail that sums up this establishment’s approach to cleanliness and maintenance. The noise level was equally intolerable: not just people yelling outside, but loud music blasting late into the night, easily heard through the paper-thin walls. Even the gym, which could have been a redeeming feature, reeked of a musky, foul odor, likely due to the inexplicable choice to carpet the entire room. It was less a fitness space and more an olfactory assault. I rarely write negative reviews, but this stay was so appallingly mismanaged that it feels irresponsible not to warn others. Between the infestation, the disrepair, and the total lack of concern from staff, this was, without exaggeration, the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. Stay elsewhere.

Staying at this hotel for two nights in September 2025, conveniently located next door to my conference venue in Halifax, was a generally pleasant experience. The room itself was a definite highlight – spacious, well-lit, and thoughtfully equipped with plenty of outlets and USB ports. The convenience of an in-room kitchen with utensils, constant lobby tea/coffee, and helpful luggage storage at reception were all greatly appreciated. The breakfast offering was also quite good. The rating of four stars reflects a few areas that could be improved for an even better guest experience. A faint, unaddressed smell in the bathroom was noticeable. On Thursday night, the noise from the pub across the street was significant, making it somewhat difficult to fall asleep. Additionally, the lack of an in-room safe, a non-operational juice machine at breakfast, and the absence of a tea kettle in the room were minor inconveniences. I also noted that the room's vent did not effectively direct airflow towards the bed. Addressing these points would elevate the stay from very good to exceptional.

Came here on a vacation with my family. Rooms are in good shape with kitchenettes in each of the rooms. Good AC system that works fast, beds run a little bit firm. Location is right in the heart of downtown Halifax, tons of shops and restaurants within walking distance as well as decent sights to see nearby. Now the reasons I'm not giving this place a 5. The parking garage is tiny with only a 6' clearance. Big trucks or SUVs will not be able to park on site at the hotel. Biggest issue though is the noise at this location, this hotel is surrounded by a lot of bars with live music, often going late. Unless you can sleep through noise, this may be a problem. The room doors are also heavy, they click loud and you will hear it if any surrounding room opens or closed their door without being exceedingly gentle about it. Overall, if you're looking for a prime location in Halifax and looking to experience the city with minimal walking, great spot if you're willing to put up with the surrounding noise of the city. If you're a light sleeper though, or are coming with a large vehicle, you may want to keep looking for other options.

Great staff and location. Hotel can be very noisy with so many bars in the area. At times ear plugs or a white noise machine, which they offer guests, are a must. But again, the staff in the entire hotel are great. The breakfast buffet was good and provided added value. We will stay here again.
