The Courtyard by Marriott Halifax Downtown offers a convenient downtown location and generally positive guest experiences, particularly regarding staff friendliness. However, recent reviews indicate a decline in property condition with concerns about dated furnishings, plumbing issues, and a need for refurbishment. While some guests appreciate the view and accessible lounge, others have noted issues with room comfort and service quality.
The place is clean but not luxury. Fitted sheet on inside out, small tv that offers Netflix and YouTube, that's half hidden from bed, furniture pretty banged up, bathroom was dated, hot water not even close to being hot enough, we could hear other guests through wall, zero art on walls (white walls), pool super small, and the hot tub could barely sit 4 people. There was also a loud heater in the room. Great view and great location. Staff is very nice and friendly. Checked out before we went to bed. That being said...won't be staying there again.
The hotel had big rooms and great service, and the location is very convenient near the Halifax Waterfront. The staff was very friendly and welcoming as well
Dear Courtyard by Marriott Team, I would like to take a moment to recognize Wendy at the front desk for the exceptional service she provided during our stay. From the moment we interacted with her, Wendy was welcoming, professional, and genuinely pleasant to talk to. She went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable, especially when assisting us with our room change. Her attention to detail and willingness to help made a significant difference and truly elevated our experience at the hotel. Wendy’s customer service skills are outstanding, and she played a big role in making our stay absolutely wonderful. Please pass along our sincere thanks and appreciation to her — she is a true asset to your team and deserves a pay raise. Please have this message passed on to her and to her boss. Thank you again for a great stay.
Great location for being downtown. Staff at the front desk we not friendly at all. I stood in the lobby waiting for help for a while. Rooms are clean and nice but pillows are terrible and bed was very hard
I've stayed here several times over the years and enjoyed my stays, but the hotel is starting to get run down and is in need of refurbishment. The bathtub was very rusty, the bathroom door stuck badly, and the bed was uncomfortably hard. Great location in walking distance to most of the attractions and restaurants downtown, and many of the competing hotels in the same area are also starting to get run down unfortunately.
Stayed here for two nights, comfortable rooms and bed. The lounge is very accessible, a place I wanted to hang out. Special shout out to Charlie at the front desk. He went above and beyond to make our stay special. Really appreciate his action.
Great location. All downtown hotels are relatively expensive, but this was a great spot. We previously stayed at the Prince George (at a much higher nightly rate $$$) and we MUCH preferred the Courtyard. Room was nice and surprisingly spacious. It was only a 1-minute walk to the board walk and restaurants which is a huge plus. We will definitely be back and I'd recommend this hotel to anyone staying in downtown Halifax. We wish we used the terrace, but it was raining on the last day when we remembered to go take a peek.
Hotel is clean rooms are nice. Yes, its located next to a construction site but we liked it. Gave us something to watch. it wasn't noisy unless your windows are open. Location is great, close to the waterfront. They have a nice terrace available on the 8th floor with a great view. Food in the bistro was OK. I would recommend! The only negative was some of the TV channels on the guide didn't match the channel that was on. But we watched very little TV.
