The Hampton Inn by Hilton - Halifax Downtown offers a convenient downtown location near attractions like the Scotiabank Center, coupled with generally positive guest experiences. Recent stays have highlighted exceptional staff service, including personalized gestures and proactive problem-solving, alongside a comfortable and spacious room experience. However, recent reviews have raised significant concerns about cleanliness and heating issues.
We had an awesome price for the King size room. Was very close to Scotia Bank center for the concert that we attended. Easy walk to lots of food places and bars and they have a nice parkade. Although you have to pay for it. It's on site at least. Pool is a bit small but you also share the pool with the Homewood suites which is next door and they have a much bigger pool. Staff was really good with the accommodations and the breakfast was small but very delicious and nice varieties of fruits and items.
Great stay! The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Special thanks to the receptionist, Kiran, for being welcoming, professional, and very helpful. Excellent service that made my visit memorable. Highly recommended!
On valentines day this year I was not able to be with my Fiancee as she was in Halifax for work. I emailed the hotel to see if there was any way they could deliver flowers to her room for me. Guest Services Supervisor Nobuhiro Yamada was quick to say yes and direct me to a flower shop right near the hotel. I put the order in and let them know it was ready for pickup and they set them up with chocolates and drinks for me which was absolutely amazing. They even went above and beyond from an idea one of the front desk staff Navdeep to decorate the bed with petals and a swan arrangement for me which was an extremely pleasant surprise. This above and beyond customer service is exactly what one should expect from a hotel and I can say they met and exceeded this expectation. When we visit Halifax you can guarantee we will be staying at the Hampton Inn and I will be personally thanking the parties involved in making this happen. Thanks a lot for making a special day feel special!
I always love coming to this hotel, Its reasonably priced and it feels like the perfect amount of space for such a short time. This room looks different from the other room I had last time, but it's just as nice. The front desk are always helpful and friendly when I arrive, and their breakfast buffet is delicious ? Thank you for another wonderful stay ??
We had an alright stay here, apart from the fact that we woke up in the morning to bed bugs crawling next to my husband! This has never happened to me before. At first we were impressed by the discount we got for a last minute stay, the room seemed nice and the location was great. Unfortunately waking up to bed bugs at 6am completely ruined the night. My partner called the front desk and spoke to them, they advised us to put the bug in a cup and that they had plastic bags for our things if needed. When we stripped the bed upon discovering the bugs, we found dirt and popcorn kernels under the sheets of the bed, so obviously the attention to cleanliness wasn’t great. I usually always check the beds at hotels but this time I was so tired I just assumed everything would be fine. My mistake. The staff didn’t initially seem to care much about the situation. I have to note that the hotel Manager came and spoke with me eventually when I was in the lobby and had offered a 75% discount for the night. She said we still had to pay for the pet fee ($75) and 25% of our stay. Honestly I felt that the stay should have been free, regardless of the pet. The steps we had to take to ensure the bugs didn’t spread to our home was costly enough. That said, the Hampton Inn in Halifax won’t be seeing my business again, and I will warn others to stay away too.
We were visiting Halifax from Charlottetown and chose this hotel because of its downtown location, which truly is a 10/10. Unfortunately, the stay itself was disappointing. The rooms felt quite dated, and while they were generally clean, both the sheets and towels had visible stains and tears. Parking was also costly. Compared to nearby options, the hotel’s parking ended up being more expensive than parking elsewhere in the area. The biggest issue was the heating. Our first room had no working heat. After trying to adjust the thermostat for hours, it became clear it was only blowing cold air. We called reception, and someone came up and simply turned the unit off, stating there was no heat available, without offering a solution. Given that it’s winter in Canada, this was not acceptable. When we called reception again, their response felt rushed and irritated. We were told someone else was coming and the call was ended abruptly. Another staff member tested the heat in a different room, and we agreed to move. This required packing everything up and changing rooms in the middle of the night. While the heat worked in the second room, the bathroom heater did not, making showering and using the bathroom uncomfortably cold. At checkout, we mentioned the ongoing heating issue. One staff member apologized (the first apology we received), while another offered explanations related to renovations and wiring issues, but no apology. We did receive a discount after some discussion, but it started very low and felt more like negotiating than a sincere attempt to make things right. Breakfast was cold, though otherwise decent. Overall, despite the excellent location, we would recommend staying elsewhere based on how these issues were handled.
This hotel is definitely located in the perfect spot. Right across from Scotiabank Center, walking distance from all conveniences downtown. The rooms are spacious, clean and i had a great view of the waterfront. Service is lovely and the breakfast included is wholesome and very filling
Excellent hotel that suited all my needs! I was here for a convention and booked this hotel, it is convenient and only a 10 min walk to the convention center. There are some good coffee shops around (loved the Taiyaki 52 place). The rooms are very big and i like that there is enough bathroom counter space. Bed was comfortable and you can also checkin/out through the app. The free breakfast was basic but suited my needs. I am glad that the tea/coffee station is available 24/7, especially the hot water. Staff is helpful and friendly!
This is a lovely hotel well situated. We stayed for 2 nites. Parking is on site and plentiful. The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean and spacious. But the star of the show was Hedy our reception person. She was kind, patient, and informative giving us lots of information to make our stay wonderful! Hilton is lucky to have her representing their brand.
