The Hotel Halifax is currently undergoing renovations, resulting in construction noise and limited amenities. Recent guests have praised the hotel's location near the waterfront and helpful staff, particularly regarding the quality of renovated rooms. However, some experiences have been marred by issues such as inconsistent hot water, room disruptions, and design flaws in the bathrooms.
Recently stayed between May 25 - 28, location was convenient as it was near waterfront. Check in was smooth and was surprised when told I was offered an upgrade. Unfortunately experience went down hill from that point on. When I got to my hotel room, it was actually an accessible room which I did not book. Then on the morning of May 27 we had no hot water for the entire hotel. I then proceed to inquire with front desk and was told they are aware of the issue. Also brought up why hotel staff falsely inform my room was upgraded when it was switched to an accessible room. Was told we did not want you to lose out on a king bed instead of 2 queen since we are fully booked. Unacceptable imo as you should be transparent with your guest then let them decide instead of trying to cover up a mistake. Disappointed with overall experience.
I stayed here with my partner and grabbed a drink at the hotel bar before our dinner reservations where we were served by the lovely Nicole! We had a lovely chat and she was so sweet to us! I’d definitely come back just for a drink or two.
Good location on the edge of downtown with renovated rooms that are also decent. Stayed here May 25th-28th 2026. Barely any hot water the first morning, none on the second. Noisy! Can hear everything going on in the hallway. Can hear everything going on in the adjacent room. Noisy in-room HVAC system to go with that. Lastly, ridiculous loud construction noises on the door above. All of that for an absurd price. Choose somewhere else if you want value and a peaceful stay.
Me and my family stayed here for 3 days and had a great experience. The hotel was very clean, and the staff were always nice, friendly, helpful, and accommodating throughout our stay. We were fully stocked with towels, shampoo, body wash, and conditioner, and the rooms were cleaned regularly with great attention to detail. The location is excellent, with lots of great restaurant options and the waterfront all within a short walking distance. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone visiting Halifax for the first time.
Close to the QEII. Rooms were updated and clean. Beds were decently comfortable. We only had interaction with the front desk staff as we arrived in the evening and left shortly after 6 am. The pool is not open and the tv was not working. Unfortunately, there was jackhammering close by until almost 9 pm.
Stayed overnight on 24th Jan 2026 after a function at the hotel. It is clear that the hotel is undergoing major refurbs, but the hotel did an absolute first class job of minimizing disruption, allocating refurbed rooms and going above and beyond expectations with help and assistance during our function and stay. The new rooms are fantastic, modern and a great shower. Service standards at the this hotel have always been at a top level and it was great to see so many staff members back in place now that the hotel has reopened. The location, is perfect with a connection to the Scotia mall which is essentially down town Halifax. Looking forward to seeing the hotel completed and when it is, I am sure it will be one of the most poular hotels in the city.
Hotel Halifax is a very nice hotel. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful, from the restaurant to the front desk and housekeeping, everyone asked if I needed help. I’m very satisfied with my stay. The room was clean and comfortable.
I stayed at the hotel for one night, and the experience was excellent. The front desk staff were very polite, professional, and welcoming. Special thanks to Victoria and Varolhmon for their outstanding service, helpful attitude, and respectful manner. Check-in was smooth and efficient, and they made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. I truly appreciate their professionalism and kindness
We stayed here for a recent concert at the Scotia bank centre. The hotel is only about a 5 minute walk from the arena. There’s restaurants near by within walking distance as well. Parking garage as well that was $30 Wednesday afternoon - Thursday morning. The hotel is currently under renovations so expect some noise from that. Rooms are absoutley stunning and modern. We were put in an adjoining room despite not needing one. Unfortunately we could hear the other guests alarm going off from 6am until 7am when they finally stopped putting it on snooze, as well as them on the phone through the adjoining door. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
The hotel is under construction right now. If you're staying during the week, bring ear plugs as construction starts promptly at 8am and is loud and will wake you up. This was frustrating after a busy weekend and wanting to sleep in until checkout. The renovated rooms look nice but I think they focused more on form, rather than function. There's hardly any room to get into one side of the bed as there's about 6 inches between it and the wall. The bathroom design is awful. The door just slides shut and wouldn't even slide all the way, leaving an inch gap between it and the wall. The shower has a glass wall for half of it but the other half is open with no door to slide to trap the steam in so you get really cold during a shower and feel exposed. The water also gets all over the floor because of this. And there are no shelves to put products on while in the shower, or anywhere to hang your towel over if you get soap or water in your eyes. Whoever designed the bathroom didn't think of actual practical design that people need. The staff were friendly but that's the only positive thing right now, maybe after construction things will be better but the room design is still bad.
